Burn Out
I dont care who you are, how successful you've become, or how passionate you are, we all experience the…
Burn out
This is the time when the fun stuff becomes work. It's become repetitive, your back hurts, it burns a hole in your wallet, and sometimes you wake up in the morning disappointed it isn't Sunday.
I do joke around but its true, that I've almost quit horses about 10 times in the last 20years I've been involved with horses. Because quite frankly it's just hard sometimes.
But I changed something different this time around. Instead of being burned out, I'm so ecstatic to say I've never been more excited to go outside and tackle my day. What to do?
CREATE A LEGITIMATE GOAL IN DEFINING WHO YOU WANT TO BE IN YOUR BUSINESS, NOT WHAT EVERYONE ELSE WANTS FROM YOU.
There are lot of variables to being a horse trainer. Do you like to stay home or do you like to travel? Do you prefer green horses, broke horses, or wild horses? Do you like riding different breeds or are you geared in a specific sport? Are you a clinician? Do you teach kids, adults or both? Do you like trail riding or do you like your arena time? I've found that the worst thing you can be is trying to be all of the above for everyone else. I did that in my super young inexperienced years. I've learned that to create the best environment for yourself, you have to be honest with yourself.
Once you've answered these questions, create a goal. A goal that is scary. A goal that requires months of hard work and answers that "why" in your inner soul that defines you. A goal that sets you back into why you loved horses so much in the first place.
Don’t let that fire in your soul go out so soon. Fuel it with meaningful goals that replieshes it. You will find that when you put meaning back into your daily grind, your passion is fueled again.
